Bantu gets on board

Yodit Eklund is a valuable girl.

Sure, we were impressed by her Berkley education, the fact that she is solidly multi-cultural (Ethiopian, French, American & Swedish) and her surfit of creative ideas, but it was when we were strolling with her through the Medina here in Casablanca on the weekend that we realised her true value.

Approximately 1000 camels…

A small portion of Yodit’s proposed dowry

The Moroccan tout who shouted the quote (offer?) across his collection of sheesha pipes seemed geniunely impressed by Yodit – but he did not know the half of it.

Yodit, together with her brother is launching Bantu - an exclusive African surf brand – and they are coming on board as AfricanSurfer.com’s first corporate sponsor.

Yodit: effervescent

The brand is launching in the States next month in the most discerning surf shops, and here at AfricanSurfer.com we will be providing the multimedia content for the launch as well as supporting the brand on our site, vehicle and surfboards.

Yodit just sent through new decals for the Cruiser and we will be getting Bantu gear to surf and chill in – which should seriously enhance our cool factor (Lurks requested a limited edition speedo which Yodit said she would make from the women’s range of material. Does it get any more classy?)

Lurks is not afraid to surf in a Speedo. Imagine this archive shot from Angola with him in a fetching Bantu number instead – mind-blowing…

We are pretty excited about the partnership – watch this space for more in the coming weeks and, in the meantime, check out their vibe here.

Ian bravely approaches the”Alpha-Camel” in Yodit’s dowry herd. Anything for the shot.

I heard that Bunthu tried to get Jordy signed up during his recent bidding war but that when he heard that the rest of the team was going to be you okes he got scared that he may get overshadowed and couldnt stand the thought of not being the numero uno star.

(seriously though…surely there are some better ambassadors out there than you okes ! Its not like any of you even look good in speedos)

I would love to get in touch with Yodit to feature her and Bantu on Fly. I could not access the contact info on the Bantu site, is there any way you can pass on my contact info to her? Thanks so much.

I’m trying to get in touch with Yodit as well. Want to feature her in Breakthroughs, the alumni magazine of UC Berkeley’s College of Natural Resources. Can you pass on the message, as her Bantu address isn’t working?

I’m also trying to get in touch with Yodit. I tried to contact her through Bantu website address, but it did not work.
Could you please pass her my e-mail address? I am an Italian journalist and would like to feature her in the magazine Intimo piu’ mare. Thank you so much

The original trip

March 2007: Tim, Lurks & Stone mission north from Cape Town up the west coast of Africa, in search of good waves and good times. Their vehicle: a trusty 1981 Landcruiser named Mzee Kobe (The Old Tortoise). Their final destination: London... finally arriving almost a year behind schedule in latter 2008!
