Goodbye Mayumba

img_2204.JPG

12 days ago we arrived in Mayumba, a bedraggled trio straight from spending the night in a puddle in the middle of the Gabonese jungle (see this post if you missed it).

Tomorrow morning we will drag ourselves away from here and make our way towards Libreville. We’ve had an amazing time staying with Mike (who actually saved us from the above-mentioned puddle) & Linda and Rich & Aimee – our cuts and blisters have healed, we’ve eaten like West African kings, and we’ve had some incredible waves (see this post, and this one, if you missed them).

It should take about 2 days to drive to Libreville – and apparently the road isn’t that bad. Will update from there…

Goodbye Mayumba!

The original trip

March 2007: Tim, Lurks & Stone mission north from Cape Town up the west coast of Africa, in search of good waves and good times. Their vehicle: a trusty 1981 Landcruiser named Mzee Kobe (The Old Tortoise). Their final destination: London... finally arriving almost a year behind schedule in latter 2008!
