AfricanSurfer featured on

A few weeks ago, we wrote about our exciting encounter with the Kingsley Holgate ‘Africa Outside Edge’ expedition while in Benin.

Well, not to be outdone, Kingsley has kindly returned the favour and included us on his Getaway blog.

Just one thing… does anyone know who ‘John “Lucks” Fleming’ is?

AfricanSurfer leaves it’s mark in Kingsleys’ scroll of peace and goodwill after a yummy Nando’s peri-peri braai…

Hey Guys!!! Was great to read & see this article about you guys, ..oh yes…Mick, you were right…Shirl was ecstatic!:-)
Anyway, I had a good chuckle while reading it – then promptly printed 20 copies…and have been handing it out to all my mates (and their families), ever since!! Must admit that i had also wondered if “Lucks” was perhaps some vagabond who’d gatecrashed your road trip????
Take care, and miss you lots xxi

The original trip

March 2007: Tim, Lurks & Stone mission north from Cape Town up the west coast of Africa, in search of good waves and good times. Their vehicle: a trusty 1981 Landcruiser named Mzee Kobe (The Old Tortoise). Their final destination: London... finally arriving almost a year behind schedule in latter 2008!
